The book provides students with fact files about China, Japan, Korea and Australia, and invites comparisons between the countries for better understanding. There are chapters about ancient China, feudal Japan and the main religious beliefs of people in China, Japan and Korea. Students also learn about the issues of water quality and usage in modern Korea and about the extinct and endangered species of the region. This book will help to develop students` understanding of the history, geography, cultures and beliefs of China, Japan and Korea.

Exploring North- East Asia presents an overview of the main features of three of Australia`s important economic neighbours. The book takes selective information about each country focussing on general statistics (population, climate, geography, emblem, etc) in a fact file, religion and beliefs and endangered species. It also explores historical aspects of each country, although Korean history is not examined in as much detail as Japan and China. Where applicable comparisons are drawn with Australia.
Designed for lower secondary students, this text provides a sound introduction to the fascinating cultures of these countries.
This text is part of the Curriculum Corporation`s collaboration with the Asia Education Foundation.
