Being Australian

Australia Day is Australia’s national day of celebration—a day for all Australians to celebrate our achievements and successes, what’s great about Australia and the values that unite us. We also recognise the achievements of outstanding Australians who have contributed their skills and talents to the Australian community.

Fully photocopiable Being Australian has been developed for upper primary students and provides teachers with materials to develop:

• understanding and appreciation of the importance and meaning of Australia Day to the Australian community
• awareness and understanding of ideas and themes that contribute to Australian identity
• reflection and understanding of the importance of the land, the people, diversity, Indigenous perspectives, values, rights and responsibilities of Australian society.
