Images of Asia

In the new Studies of Asia Big Card Sets, eight countries of Asia are explored through four themes:The Environment Beliefs Innovations and Symbols, Patterns and Designs Each card features a richly illustrated map and photographs depicting the theme.

Explore aspects of the countries of Asia by drawing on visual understandings, supported by teacher guided learning activities. The cards encourage small group, shared investigations, and contain stimulus for higher-order thinking and discussion.

A Teacher Guide contains commentary on the photographs, student learning activities for each set and blackline masters, including outline maps of the eight countries.

Images of Asia: Symbols, Patterns and Designs

The diversity of the Arts in these countries of Asia is conveyed in both traditional and contemporary visual representations, from village Spirit Posts in South Korea and the ancient symbolism of the Japanese kimono to Manga comics and the Bollywood posters of urban India. These images would provide excellent stimulus material for Arts activities.
