Images of Asia

In the new Studies of Asia Big Card Sets, eight countries of Asia are explored through four themes—‘The Environment’, ‘Beliefs’, ‘Innovations’ and ‘Symbols, Patterns and Designs’. Each card features a richly illustrated map and photographs depicting the theme.

Explore aspects of the countries of Asia by drawing on visual understandings, supported by teacher guided learning activities. The cards encourage small group, shared investigations, and contain stimulus for higher-order thinking and discussion.

A Teacher Guide contains commentary on the photographs, student learning activities for each set and blackline masters, including outline maps of the eight countries.

Images of Asia: The Environment

City planning in Shanghai and Tokyo, protecting the marine environment of the Philippines and traditional fishing in Thailand are some of the examples used to investigate environmental challenges and human interaction with the environment in these countries of Asia.
